What We
Believe

We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things. He is holy, loving, and just. And He is our Refuge!

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He came to save the world through His life, death, and resurrection, offering eternal life to all who believe in Him. And we believe He's coming back!

We believe the Holy Spirit is actively at work, empowering believers to live transformed lives, equipping them with spiritual gifts, and guiding them in truth.

The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

We believe salvation is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by works but freely given to those who believe and repent.

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, love one another, and share the Gospel with the world.

Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers.

Radical Welcome: El Refugio will be a safe harbor for everyone, regardless of nationality, skin color, political beliefs, or past sins. We lead with acceptance, not judgment, creating a space where people can come as they are.
Unconditional Acceptance: There are no "hoops" for people to jump through or behavioral benchmarks they must meet to enter and learn with us about the one true God. We accept people where they are and walk alongside them as they learn with us. We do not accept sin or cover for one another's sin, however we do accept that sanctification is not just immediate and but also ongoing.
Authentic Growth: Our focus is on people and their relationship with God. We will learn together and grow together, fostering a community of mutual support and encouragement.
Biblical Integrity: We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. We will not alter, ignore, or apologize for its truths to fit our preferences or cultural pressures. We will teach the whole Word of God, including the difficult parts.
God-Led Transformation: True change is the work of the Holy Spirit. Our role is not to force change but to create an environment where God can transform hearts and lives through the teaching of His Word.
Love in Everything: As servants of the Lord, our approach to everything—from teaching hard truths to welcoming new faces—will be characterized by kindness, love, and compassion, never quarrelsomeness.
